What kind of ssd can acer nitro 5 an515-51-59xr use?
Hi,
I want to upgrade my nitro's hdd to a ssd but I'm not sure what kind of ssd it can be upgraded to.
I'm not sure whether to buy the m.2 or 2.5" ssd.

Hi,
Yes, both of the Root ports are being used and you have no Root Ports with either 2 lanes or 4 lanes, so I think you have to install a M.2 SATA SSD.
But according to manual, it says that you can install a NVMe SSD in your model but it has Kabylake platform, if you can buy a returnable NVMe SSD, I would suggest you to install and see whether it works but not sure whether it's worth the hassle, benefit of a NVMe SSD is only in transferring larger files and apart from that there's little difference between them.

So does this mean I can't install the m.2 NVMe SSD eventhough my version is 3.0?

Hi,
Could you please expand (by clicking + sign) PCIe Root ports 3&4 and post the snip.

Aaah okay,
I think I’ll just stick with the m.2 ssd instead of the nvme to avoid the hassle. Thank you for the replies. I greatly appreciate the help0 -
