Ok, I have few issues with this laptop and I suppose they are all bios related.

So, when computer is powered off completly, battery drains in few days.

After that, when I plug it in, cpu vent power up, despite computer not being powered off, and when I power it on, it turns off.

Power button does not work in windows (it should put windows in power down mode).

When you power down the machine, most of the time cpu vent turns on and I have to power it on and enter bios and turn computer off.

Demonstration is here on youtube:

Why the power button does nothing when pressed in windows? There is an option in windows called 'choose what the power buttons do'. To access it go to control panel>hardware and sound>power option and then ot the left side you will find it.

The fan probably keeps spinning while the laptop is shut down, because it doesn't actually shut down completely, but enters in hibernation mode, which is also the reason why it drains battery while turned off. To disable fast startup go in control panel>hardware and sound>power option and then again in 'choose what the power buttons do' and you will find a text 'change settings that are currently unavailable'. Click on it and then remove the tick from 'turn on fast startup'. When you shutdown the laptop this time, the fan should stop spining, and if you have set the power button to shut down the laptop, then you will be able to turn it off from there.

If the fan issue still persists then, update the BIOS if you haven't already.

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thank you for quick replay, I tried that, turned off fast boot, but the cpu fan power up after complete shutdown and drains battery.

This also does not explain state where battery is completly drained and when I plug computer the cpu fan starts working without powering computer!

I don't know what can cause the fan to keep spinning or begin to spin even when the PC is off. Maybe updating the BIOS can help. Did you update it?

Also I would try a battery reset by sticking a paper clip in the battery reset pinhole at the back(if it is removable battery just remove it). Wait for 10minutes put the battery back in press press the power button continuously for 30seconds.

It has latest bios for that board 1.13.

Battery is non removable, but when I press the battery button on the bottom, cpu fan stops, but when I release it, cpu fan starts again!

So the only way to turn off the cpu fan is to power again the computer, enter bios with F2 and then hold power button for 10 second to turn computer off. But in that state the battery drains itself completly in couple of days.

This sounds to me like a bios bug, but I dont know how to report it through customer care?

I think you can just report the issue by sending them an email describing the issue and ask them to upload a hot fix for the BIOS. I doubt they will do this for just one person, but maybe there are other reports regarding 1.13v of the BIOS.

Here is the link of the support page:

So you bought the laptop brand new a month ago and it says you don't have a warranty? Make another thread about that or private message Acer-Jose.

I have warranty (even 3 year extended) but acer does not recognize that, so I send them request with receipt.
