Predator Helios 300 missing HDD caddy

Purchased a Helios 300 off of Amazon, arrived today. I opened the hard drive bay on the bottom of laptop to make sure everything was okay and it's missing the caddy and the SATA cable entirely. Honestly not even sure where a cable would go? I see what looks like some braided thread and a folded ribbon cable tucked along edges of the bay. I saw in a few Amazon reviews that some people have had their laptop shipped with the cable pinned under the casing.

This is kind of ridiculous.... I've bought crappy Chinese knock-off electronics from ali express with better build quality. Is this the kind of nonsense I can expect from Acer going forward?

    1st off I had the same exact issue and also purchased mine recently from Amazon. I was dissapointed mine didn't come with the caddy and cable but it really didn't take long to get the issue resolved in the end. Made a post in which I didn't come off sounding like a *** and got a response pretty quickly. Made a PM to the suggested person and wound up getting the kit shipped via 2 day FedEx. In the end it was  handled in less than an hour. Guess it really depends on timing as not everybody lives on the internet.

     

    New to the forum so not sure how to quote a post yet. Just look for my thread and you'll see the response with who to contact. I'd strongly suggest leaving the attitude behind.

    I wouldn't really care too much about this (especially since the HDD I ordered hasn't even arrived yet), but this is obviously a recurring problem affecting quite a few customers. After a second look, Amazon's reviews are full of this problem, as are these support forums.Just seems like some basic attempts at QA could've prevented this issue. 

     

    Anyway, I'll shoot them a PM and see if we can't get this situated.

    They'll sort you out, did you get the baggy of screws in the battery box? You'll need 8 total to mount and secure the thing so make sure to let them know if you need those. Good luck

    Yep, I found the baggy in the box w/ the power cord. I'll be sure to mention needing more screws in the PM once I get a response.

    I have the same issue. I need to post here so I can access private messages.

     

    Mine did not come with the 4 silver mounting screws to mount the HDD to the caddy.

    I had the same problem but I contacted Acer's support chat and didn't get much help from them. I also tried messaging Acer-Blayn directly but no luck there either. How I now know that Acer's support team isn't able to help me I was wondering which terms should I use in a google search to buy the SATA cable and caddy my self. I only seem to find SATA to USB adapters and HDD caddy adapters, I could find a caddy on Amazon for the Aspire line, but nothing for the Predators. I am thoroughly disappointed with Acer's customer care.

    I'm from Brazil and Acer do not awnser, I contact to local support in Brazil, but they do not send me, because I bought in EUA. Do you know If have some contact to Acer that can solve my problem or If have the possibility to buy and send to Brazil?

    I have mounting screws and a caddy but when I installed my new SSD drive, the laptop doesn't read it... but then again I have a Nitro 5

    I'm on the same situation, for some reason all my messages here are gone as well. I tried to find the cable and stuff, but I guess someone doesn't really want to help. The only solution, it seems is to find someone to receive the cable for you at US/Canada.

    Inclusive, se você arrumar outra solução me avise, porque esse pessoal daqui quer mais é dinheiro, mas nunca recomendo esse suporte, eles lançaram agora o Acer 300 aqui no Brasil, mas se recusam a dar suporte mesmo assim.

    Even if you fix another solution let me know, because these people want more money, but I never recommend this support, they have now launched the Acer 300 here in Brazil, but refuse to give support anyway.

    Check your bios settings. Maybe its switched off
