    • cannot copy files to external HDD

    I need to copy files on to an external HDD. Windows Explorer quits every time. I also cannot copy the content of one file to another on my desktop.

    I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on an Acer Aspire 5734Z-4836

    I am setting up a new Acer Aspire and need to move the files from the old computer to the new one.

    Please help

      how is formatted the external HDD?

      FAT32 or NTFS?

      The formatting is important.

       

      You may want to consider Macrium to help with the task.

      What kind of files are you trying to copy the content from & then paste the content into? Jack E/NJ

      External drive must be NTFS but I'd just pull a system image instead of trying to copy files.
