My Acer Swift 3 SF314-51-73XF Notebook screen suddenly goes black when using it. But the sound or other process still run in background. I have to turn my laptop off and on again and it's normal upon restart. I found that online, discharging static electricity may fix the problem for many user in other laptop model. If same process applicable for me then how can I discharge static electricity from my fixed battery laptop. Please help. Thank you.

I wonder if it is overheating. The third party software HWMONITOR from CPUID is very good for monitoring temperatures.

Thangs for the replay. But may be it is not overheating. Because sometime it happens when i just trun the laptop on. But sometimes it does not happen when i play game like Dota 2 which produce overheating.

Next thought is to connect to an external monitor using "duplicate" and see if it also goes blank. If not you may need to open the case and R&R all of the display connections, it may be a cable issue. If it goes blank also you have a different problem that could be hardware related.

I shifted to ubuntu for this problem. Now there is no issue like this. bty thank you for halping.

Maybe I assumed too much. If Ubuntu works than the issue is software. I'd check Control Panel>Power Options>Choose when to turn off the display and see if turning the display off is enabled (but usually hitting the ANY key restores).

The other possibility is a malfunctioning temperature sensor that thinks the display is overheating. Linux probably does not care. HWMONITOR from CPUID can probably give some indication of this.
