How do I get rid of the "usable ram" parenthesis in 64-bit Windows 10?

[Laptop Acer Aspire E5-575G-53W3] (CPU 6200U)

[Laptop Acer Aspire V3-575G-50GG] (CPU 6200U)

Installed RAM    4GB (3.87 GB usable)

So-called "Maximum memory:" is already unchecked, of course.

Is there any thing in UEFI to be configured to get rid of this?

    Hi

Where specifically does it show to be a problem?

With 64-bit Windows, there shouldn't be (xxxx GB usable).

Because it means you can not utilise all of your RAM.

The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers

Type 'msconfig' then a windows will appear. Click on 'boot' then choose your operating system, then click on 'advanced options' and uncheck 'maximum memory'.

Edit: In order to work you have to reboot the system after you have done the thing above.

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Can be the assigned ram to iGPU, so windows will show the real available amount.

Yes, the iGPU doesn't have its own memory here, but I have a laptop with integrated graphics only and it shows 8GB RAM without the usable RAM in the brackets.

Sorry for not reading the whole post.

You can try to put a check on 'maximum memory' and then type a value of 4096 and this might work.

Also tried. That worsens the number to even lesser like 2.xx GB.

After I rechecked my model to download BIOS, turns out it is actually

And unfortunately, it's the latest one already.

Open task manager and at the bottom you will see 'open resource monitor'. After you click on it go to 'memory' and see how much is 'hardware reserved'.

    134 MB Reserved

Why doesn't ACER machine map that 134 MB somewhere else? It has 64-bit address man.

My older machine lets me use my all 4GB without that "usable" tag, though.

I guess if your reserved memory was less than or 96MB then windows wouldn't display 3.87GB usable. My laptop has 8GB of RAM and only about 80MB is reserved and I don't have this '(xxxxMB usable memory)'. I don't know what else it could be. Maybe IronFly is right. Even though my laptop only has integrated graphics, no RAM is taken, but this could vary from a machine to machine and maybe your laptop constantly uses a partition of your RAM for the iGPU. Anyway I think 130MB RAM is not much and with or without it wouldn't make a difference.

Thanks. I'd be about to upgrade another 4GB stick soon.
