I bought a refurbished Aspire R15 R5-571TG and everything works well except the touchscreen, which doesn't work at all.  Device Manager doesn't show a HID-touchscreen line.  Any ideas on how to fix it?

    If it's a refurb is it possible that they installed a screen that isn't a touch screen? I know a very common problem with that model is the screen breaking and cracking so it's possible someone installed a non-touchscreen display. Either way, you should still see the option in the device manager follow this process:

    You should see it in the in the Device Manager under

    Human Interface Devices ----->HID-compliant touch screen.  Right click that option and see if it has been disabled.

    Thank you for the reply.  Unfortunately, "HID-compliant touch screen" is not there.  Is there anything that I can install to get the touchscreen working?

    Here's something you can try:

    1. Launch the Acer Care Center;

    2. Go to Service and Support (if not already there);

    3. It will ask for your serial number, but also provide an automated way of finding it. Use it, then copy your serial number and paste it into the search box, and click Find;

    4. This will take you to a Drivers and Manuals page that will again ask for your serial number (or at least it did me). Just paste it in again. You will be taken to the page for your specific model;

    5. Click the Drivers option -- lots of them will appear;

    6. Scroll down till you find the touchpad driver. There may be more than one. I chose to install the first one, which is the Synaptics one;

    7. As soon as it completed, the touchpad was again functional.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for your reply, Bill.  Unfortunately, my problem is with the touchscreen, not the touchpad.  I'm leaning towards the possibility that the screen is simply not touch-compatible.
