Hi, my 1 week old laptop wont respond when the power button is pressed. It is currently turned off, has 100% battery. When I press the power button nothing happens. A while ago it turned on after pressing it for 5 seconds. But now, even holding it for a minute does nothing. Any ideas how to fix?

    Hi,

What happens if you press quickly without holding on to it?

Hi, nothing happens when i press it quickly. I've tried pressing it in the ff conditions: 1 sec, 5s, 10s, 30s, 60s, and also pressing the power button 10s while also holding the battery reset pinhole button.

    Hi,

You need to take it for a service, it could be a faulty Power button. You can get in touch with Acer service centre and arrange for a service:https://www.acer.com/ac/en/PH/content/support

    Hi

I already took it to a service center a while ago. I just tried posting here in case someone might have an easier solution to this problem lol. Thanks anyways mate.

My power button isnt working when its not plugged in. Would indicate battery, but I pulled the back off, and everything seems to be fine, all connections were checked. It was working fine just today, on battery. so once again, standard answer must be "take it in to get it fixed" wonderful.. I've owned it less than 2 weeks.

Just a follow-up; if it is indeed a faulty power button, how would they fix it? Would they replace just the button, or replace the motherboard or something? I've heard changing stuff like a motherboard takes ages because some authorized service centers do not have the parts on site..

If you are in the US, there is only one official Acer-run service center (located in Texas) for which you'd have to mail in your laptop.  There are Acer authorized warranty repair places, such as Microcenter, which can do warranty repair for you, but you'd have to call them to see ETA / parts availability -- turnaround time for my local Microcenter seems to be pretty quick for warranty repairs.

Ok, but do you think my laptop's issue is a severe or a simple one? I'm wishing it's just a power button problem, because the last time I made it turn on was when I pressed the power button for 5 seconds. It started up fine, and I even played a game for 30 mins. After that, dumb me turned off the laptop, then I remembered the power button was acting strange. Then afterwards I couldn't turn it on using the power button. When I pressed it, fans won't start up etc, but the laptop still charged.. I just wish it could be fixed quickly
