BIOS flash went wrong

I have an Acer Aspire 5740 laptop. The original BIOS was 1.09. The other day I tried to update it to a newer version, 1.22 posted on the Acer support page. The process started, the progress bar advanced until complete, then the laptop restarted itself. However, it never went back on again. The screen is black, there's not activity of any sort.

Is there any way to restore the BIOS, or re-flash it to a working version?

My laptop is out of warranty, so I'd be looking for out-of-warranty service.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that your BIOS flash went awry.

Out of warranty support varies by region.

We would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.

    I appreciate your response.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any way to contact the Acer support for out-of-warranty service - I am in the US. The only link provided on the website is to contact "Answers by Acer", and I spoke with them, but they do not do actual repairs, only over the phone answers.

When I enter my laptop's SNID on the Acer support web page, I get the message "Your system is no longer eligible for free phone support. Please use one of the alternative support links as seen above." But there is NO link provided!

Can you suggest an alternate way to get in touch with Acer Support USA, or one of their service centers?

    Thanks.
