W10 back to W7?

I have the aspire one AO722 model that came from Currys with W7 loaded. Some yrs later I fell for the promo 'upgrade to W10 free' on line. Had no probs till the battery went flat. Bought a new one in spite of the old one being only a yr old. Laptop does not recognise or charge either battery. I have also tried the numerous 'tricks' to fix this with no result. The best so far has been that it knows there is a battery and begins the charge cycle. A few seconds later that stops. Next power-up reveals the above scenario. Not recognised.

I have tried to find an updated bios for this model with no luck so am considering a return to W7. Obviously this presents a prob as there was given a short period of opportunity to revert. I also dont have the original OS disc from Currys. Its something they do to make customers return equipment to their tech dept and is of dubious IP infringement IMHO.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can solve this problem? Do I now need to purchase W7?

Try to follow this video for restoring your Win7 system from the hidden Acer Win7 recovery partition on the HDD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2xoMEPfiPQ

Sounds great. Not even my IT savvy bro thought of that. Will try your suggestion later and report back.

Maybe not. Please beware that ***if successfull*** this ALT+F10 process returns Win7 to the way it was when you first got the machine. While your personal data files can be saved, nothing else you've installed or updated since will. And no 100% guarantee that it'll fix the battery issue. Jack E/NJ
