I want to dual boot Ubuntu 16.04 alongside the pre installed Windows 10 in my laptop. However I am unable to boot from UEFI. I have used Rufus to create the bootable ubuntu drive. I have turned off Secure Boot in the boot menu, turned of fast startup in Windows. My USB gets detected if I switch boot mode to Legacy, but does not when boot mode is UEFI.

My understanding is that these problems arises from wanting to install a UEFI os with a legacy one.

I think you should convert your Windows to UEFI (GPT partitioning) but don't quote me on that. I'm still waiting for my E5-575 to be delivered.

your linux distro must be 64bit to be able to boot under UEFI.

then set Rufus as it's on the mainpage:

    I'm not an Acer employee.
