Hi my daughter has an Iconia B1 since Christmas 2015. It has been working fine with no problems until the 19th March, but has been really bad in the last week. It just doesn't seem to hold charge for any length of time. We have tried various chargers, but does not last long. It indicates that it is charging, and the battery indicator shows when it has been charging for a few houeprs. But as soon as we take it off the charger, it doesn't last. The original cable has become dangerous so we have had to use others.

My daughter did use it when it was connected to the mains, but stopped that when she was told that it was okay to let the battery run down. This was in the first few months.

Now she can't use it at all, possibly when it's charging, but not otherwise.

Manufactured date 02/2014.

model B1-720_Ckr_316t

Any help would be appreciated. Where can we get if fixed? How much would it cost? How do we do a back up? Should we try a system restore?

have you tried to charge it when powered off?

try a factory reset before sending to repair.

Hi My daughter has tried that, but after she has switched it on after charging, the battery goes very quickly. It doesn't seem to hold its charge very long.

It's getting very frustrating that it suddenly keeps dropping.

How do we do a backup? We need to do that before we do a system restore.

It has just gone from 10% to 8% in 2 or 3 minutes without her doing much on it.

if it's synced with a google account, it will retrieve installed applications, contacts, gmail and few settings.

if she has game savings, you have to check if they are saved on the microSD (if any) or read some FAQs from the software house or programmer of the games.

    Hi, thanks for that.

We have downloaded the users manual- which has explained how to do a factory restore. We have ordered a replacement cable to see if that is the problem. My daughter has just said that last night it was 8%. After which she switched it off. It then went down to 2% (even though as I said it was switched off). It seems to go down when not in use. Your suggestions have been useful, but haven't solved it.

Will speak to Customer Service if neither the new cable or the factory restore work to see where we go from here.

since you daughter said it drained the battery even if switched off, i suspect a battery issue or some kind of circuit power leak, to be honest.

if you are under warranty, Acer support service will be the best choice, if you are out of warranty period...it will cost some money to even call them.

Well as she got it at Christmas 2015,  I think that we are out of warranty.

I have ordered a new cable as I have said, so will contact them after that arrives. They may not be working today as it it Good Friday,  a bank holiday. Thanks for all your help.
