Aspire V17 Nitro Graphics Problem
I bought this laptop 2 weeks back, it all worked when I got it, but a few days back games started struggling,
When I checked, the NVIDIA graphics card has disappeared from the PC and it is using the intel graphics card, the NVIDIA software reports that I don't have a NVIDIA graphics card, device manager doesn't show it, there are also no unknown devices listed, it has just disappeared.
Any ideas?

Hi,
What's the full model number of your laptop? Have you tried downloading NVIDIA driver from here for your model and install?

Hi Brummy,
The laptop is a VN7-793G
I have tried to install the NVIDIA driver and it won't install due to me "not having" a NVIDIA GPU, I have also uninstalled and re-installed the intel graphics in case that is causing a problem, and run windows update on the nvidia driver which did update, all with no luck.
I had a look in the bios as I read there is a way to disable/enable the primary / secondary graphics card there, and no option shows up, I suspect because the card is not showing up.
If this was a desktop I would unplug the graphics card and plug it back in, do you know if the graphics on this laptop is part of the motherboard or a pluggable card, also if opening the laptop will void the warranty?

Hi,
You could try removing the driver with the removal tool mentioned in the second post of this thread and install the driver from Acer Support site.

Hi,
I ran the tool in safe mode and it has fully removed the driver, after a restart I tried to install the driver again and it still says I don't have a NVIDIA gpu and won't install, i am pretty sure that software/driver is not the issue, if it was I should still see the device under device manager?

Busy doing backups then will run a reset on the laptop, that should eliminate anything software related, and make it easier when i take it in

Hi,
Yes, it's better you get it checked by a technician as these cards are soldered to the motherboard, hardware faults have to be rectified by a qualified technician or Acer Service centre.
