Hello,

I own an Aspire F15 (F5-573G-71FU). I wonder if I can install a SSD drive in my laptop. If it's possible which kind do I have to choose ? Will it be possible to boot on this drive ?

    Hello,

Your laptop supports SSD M.2 2280 SATA 3.0.

    De rien! Smiley Wink

But will my computer be able to boot on ?

Yes. First you'll have to create your factory recovery media and save your personal data. Install the new SSD and disconnect your HDD. Perform a new install from your recovery media and once installed, you'll be able to wipe your HDD with e.g. Diskpart.

    Encore merci !!!

Yes it would be easier in French but as it's an English forum I think it would not be appropriate.

    Hello,

Just to say it worked fine. I cloned the HD using EaseUS Todo Backup Free 10.0 software. The PC is as quick as a tablet to load OS or apps.

    Thank you again Laurent_14 !!!

Now I just have to change drives letters.

    To whom it may concern.

As written in my previous post, my last issue was to change the drive letters in order to make my SSD Drive as C:. It is impossible to do so using Windows or specific programs. They allow to change the letter on disks that are not considered as system disk. To be honest I saw some tricks using Windows registry but to avoid in my opinion.

Below, the things I did to do so. Keep in mind that you may damage your device or harm yourself as there are electric parts. You may do as I did but at your own risks !!!

First of all I changed the BIOS boot order to boot on SSD. I started the PC to see whether it was working or not and then I shut down.

I opened the PC (beware of electric shock - remove the battery).

I pulled the plastic strip as shown below in order to disconnect the former HD.

I started the PC. The SSD is now C:. I shut down and reconnected the HD pushing from the edge with two fingers.

I started anew the PC to give a letter to the previous HD using the Drive manager.
