bought a recertified acer V nitro off acer recertified ebay..

out of the box, after powering up, it wont shut down.

after shutting down (or hibernating or sleep), it will startup again. every time.

have tried all solutions that i can find googling on the web... nothing has worked so far.

only posting this because acer helpline put me on hold all god dang day until end of day... then wants me to call tomorrow.

ill keep this laptop if i can figure out why it wont shut down.

its going back otherwise, if they will ever pick up the phone.

    any USB device connected?

    any ethernet cable connected?

have you tried shutdown -s -f -t 00 from command prompt?

    have you disable "fast startup"?

can you describe "tried all solutions...", we don't know what you did. Smiley Happy

    no usb devices connected.

tried disabling fast boot, doesnt work. (by the way.. this is just ridiculous, im pm savvy, i build rigs, no noob needs to have to dig into settings to solve this, and then doesnt even work. i bought this for my kid, and im doing trouble shooting. *sheesh*)

    no ethernet connected.

    reboots from c prompt.

"all solutions" as in googling it.

appreciate the reply and all help provided.

on a related note, the touchpad did not work out of the box, i had to install the driver from acer website. may or may not be related to shutdown problem.

if it reboots by itself, there's something that's triggering the event.

can be a software issue (rarely) or hardware issue, something like the lid sensor having a shortcut or false contact.

about touchpad, you can try to disable it (Fn+F7) and use an USB mouse and check if this "fix" your reboot issue.

honestly, it's better if you manage a warranty check by Acer support service.
