    I have a black screen and want to update the bios but it says to rename the file and I dont know what to use.

      Before messing around any more with flashing the BIOS, try to turn the lid display on with the Fn+F6 toggle key combination. If that doesn't work, then try to HDMI out to an external TV to see if your graphics adapter is still OK. You may have to turn the TV display on with the Fn+F5 combination. Jack E/NJ

      Thanks JackE for your reply, I tried all that but have now left it in a laptop repair shop as I was getting nowhere with it.

      OK. But please let us know how it goes. In cases like this, it's more often a graphics adapter failure than a BIOS issue. Jack E/NJ
