Aspire 5738Z memory is 1066 Mhz but running at 798 MHz?
My Aspire 5738Z laptop has memory that is 533 or 1066 MHz (DDR3) but is currently running at 399 or 798 MHz. There are no options in the BIOS to adjust this. How do I fix it so the memory runs at its rated speed? Thanks.
The first ten digits of my serial number are LXPAR0X077.
I currently have Win 10 installed but may go back to Win 7 soon. I don't think that really matters though.

Hi,Yes, sorry I mistyped Core speed instead of FSB
You don't need to update the BIOS, FSB will be handled by the CPU and Chipset, no the FSB is fixed for the CPU by the manufacturers

Your speed monitor program may not be testing your system's full capabilities. Try another monitor. Jack E/NJ

Hi,
You could also check them individually by removing one stick and check the speed, replace the other and check again to see whether any of them faulty.

Hi,
Go to CPU tab in CPU-z and see what core speed it shows, your DRAM Frequency will be same, I have attached mine for you to compare. If you want to get your memory to work at 1066MHz, you need to upgrade your CPU.

I really don't think you have a problem. While your RAM may be capable of operating at higher speeds, your bus & CPU may not. Jack E/NJ

Thanks. My max core speed is ~2 GHz and rated FSB is 800 MHz but these vary according to demand. Can't I just set an appropriate FSB
RAM multiplier? I was hoping to upgrade the CPU soon but without propper BIOS settings, I don't think it will make a difference to the DRAM speed.

Okay, thanks. I'm going to try the T9900 and T9600 processors. The T9900 probably won't work but I read a forum thread that said someone did sucessfully use a T9600 processor in a 5738Z laptop. Thanks again.
