Hi,

I have made a bootable USB with windows 7 to install it on my laptop.I have issues on w10, I get a lot of blue screens of death.

So, I have changed the BIOS settings to legacy and booted into w7 setup. There I get this error "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok".

What is going on?

BSOD sometimes is not OS related, maybe it's just a driver.

if you can still boot to windows 10:

    download this tool, whocrashed:
    http://www.resplendence.com/download/whocrashedSetup.exe

before running it, browse to C:\windows\minidump
delete all files apart the first 2-3 files (newest)
then install whocrashed and run it
    click on Analyze
    report here the result.

Be aware that using Legacy is less safe and you can have some problem finding the correct drivers under windows 7.

Please, check the spoiler for the log. This is since I have restored this w10 to factory.

I just want to install w7, in my opinion is better.

Windows7 is worst on hardware resources and windows 10 manages SSD better.

by the way, the BSOD is caused by Intel HD graphic drivers.

first thing to check on your laptop is BIOS version, if lower than 1.10 please update:

    windows logo key + r

    type

    msinfo32

    check BIOS DATE/Version string

    BIOS 1.10:

    http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.10_A_A.zip?acerid=635960424469495308&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=PREDATOR&Step3=PREDATOR%20G9-791&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

About Intel HD graphic drivers, which version is installed?

Acer or automatically installed from windows update?

can you check the driver version?

    windows logo key + x

    Device manager

    click on display adapter

double click on Intel graphic adapter

    click on Driver tab

will this bios version also works for the G9-793-78CM ?

On the acer's support website the lastest one is only v1.09.

    Thank you.

ehm...this discussion is about G9-791 issue...

nope it will not work on your G9-793, so 1.09 is the latest for your model.

Yes, Acer updated that driver or, if there is any chance windows update.

Not sure what the version was since I managed to downgrade to windows 7.(THIS WAS REALLY BAD IDEA)

After I found a tool on gigabyte site that allowed me to make the usb compatible, I did manage to install it.

Getting drivers was a pain, and some not compatible creating errors and issues.(even with driver finder utility)

The intel graphics driver was spinning my fans at maximum.

Is sad that we don't have driver support for w7, is really fast.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE TO INSTALL W7.

Then I got back to w10.I got that error twice before installing all the drivers.

Now I am on the version 20.19.15.4352. I will let you know if I get any BOSD.(This is newer build of w10 home, not the one it came preinstalled with.)

this is a really old driver, downlod Intel drivers software and update it:

    http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

21.20.16.4542 is a stable version, no BSOD.

update BIOS too, as i wrote in my previous post.

The bios is updated to the latest version.Today I have got that BSOD gain.

I try to install the driver you specified but I get an error that I need the driver from manufacturer. If it try the driver updater from intel, that driver gives me a BSOD, something different.(irql_not_less_or_equal)

you need to uninstall the previous driver first, right click Intel graphic driver from Device manager, choose to uninstall and tick to uninstall software too.

reboot and install the downloaded driver.

remember to disable windows 10 drivers update too or it will re-install the oldest:

I will try that and come back to let you know if it worked.Something strange happened to me today(It happened some time ago as well)

While I was browsing on the web, the computer completely freeze.Nothing was responding.I did unplug the mouse and plugged it  in again but this time it had no lights on, no power.I had to turn the laptop off from the button in order to shut it down.Is that from the driver as well?

without a log or minidump is hard to know if the freeze was from the Intel drivers or not.

I managed to install the driver you told me and everything is good so far, no BSOD yet.

If I will make a log, can you look at it, please? And, what software shall I use for the log?I'm really curious what was that freeze about, the laptop is a few months old.Thanks.

you can look at Event Viewer, Windows log - Application or System

if you get a BSOD again, hoping a minidump is available, whocrashed app is good to check it.
