How do I upgrade RAM on Aspire E15 E5-522-89W6

How do I upgrade the RAM on my Acer Aspire E15 E5-522-89W6?  Of course there is no easy access door on the bottom and lots of videos show other Acer models that require major surgery for this normally simple task.  Please tell me I don't have to remove the 18 screws, HD, fan, wireless card and entire motherboard simply to upgrade 4GB to 8!

Web says supports 8gb one slot only so at least there is a slot. Not sure on access to it.  My E5-575g has a hatch with 3 screws and your looking right at it. (Actually gives access to ram, m2 ssd and hard drive bay- good design IMO). That said it will be on bottom. That cover comes off with all the screws fairly easy- just watch video port side. There are no wires or attachments to bottom but look at DVD tray slot, remove screw from bottom (acts like a keeper key) and it pulls out (there's a plug in jack inside) but once removed there are small screws on edge that can only be removed after DVD removed. Not a hard job.

  • Hi,

Yes, you need to remove those screws at the back, but not the fan or motherboard. You could use a guitar pick or an old credit card to dislodge the tabs to separate the back cover, remove slowly as you may find a speaker cable connected to motherboard and the back cover.

You can replace the memory once the back cover is removed.

OK, So I take off the screws and remove the back cover not the keyboard.  How many slots are there, one or two.  I'd like to have the new stick(s) before I crack it open to lessen the down time.

    Hi,

There's one slot availble, if you are upgrading from 4GB to 8GB, get a stick of 8GB RAM, remove the back cover slowly paying attention to the cable I mentioned in my previous post.

I just completed this just now this computer comes with a 4GB  memory module single slot upgradable to 8GB I used a Crucial CT7246054 memory module, getting this computer apart takes a little finesse, a phillips micro scredriver, (all scres come out, including the ones securing DVD player if you have one this video also VERY Helpful
