Aspire XC-780 - sound card goes to sleep
Hi all,
After a few minutes the sound card on my ACER XC-780 seems to go to sleep. If I do anything that requires sound there is a small 'click' then a 2 second pause then the sound comes on. The sound then remains on whilst in use until the next period of inactivity.
Any ideas about how to stop this happening?
Thanks, Neil

Try to re-install/update audio drivers:

Hi...thanks for the advice. I had already tried that and it has not made any difference.
I've also hunted around in the Device Manager and disabled power save on USB but that has not helped either!

have you checked on Realtek audio panel if there's any power saving option?
it's a strange issue.

Sadly there is no power saving option on the Realtek audio manager.
I'll keep hunting on the web!
Thanks

no more ideas at the moment, apart trying to uninstall Realtek drivers and let windows re-install automatically.
if you have any third party antivirus, please uninstall it, AVG, Avira or McAfee had some issues in the past with Realtek audio drivers.

Thanks for the continued advice. I've tried the unistall and it is still the same!
I'll keep looking!

I do have Macafee anti-virus installed (provided by BT). I don't really want to remove that - do you think that could be the issue and are there any settings I could check?

i would uninstall it, to be honest, window default antivirus is good enough and less hitting on system performance.
use the McAfee official tool to uninstall it:

removing antivirus can do the trick for you..or just disable it
