Acer Aspire 5517 power light but blank screen, no post

I have a Acer Aspire 5517 that one night worked perfect, the next day the power light comes on, the fan spools for a second and thats it... It will not go furhter. After some digging I've come to the conclusion that the BIOS has offed itself (as seems to happen from time to time I guess) but here's my problem. Try as I might I have not been able to track down the 'blind flash' procedure for this specific model. I need to know which BIOS this has for sure (its the wifes so I rarely ever saw it boot, I think its Phoenix but not 100% sure) and which procedure / software to use. There is no floppy drive so any floppy based methods are kinda useless so USB or CD are prefered. I've tried a few things but I must not be finding the correct software as it never seems to complete (ie: if I do the fn + esc procedure the fans spool up and stay spooled but it never shuts down and never corrects the issue). If anyone can tell me the correct procedure to use it would be much appreciated.

P.S. Is there possibly a backup jumper or something that I could use for this model? I know my old toshiba had an emergency backup bios built in.

Thanks.
