I have tried to factory reset my Aspire ES 15 using both Alt f10 and restore but can only get to 3% and then it reverts with no changes made.  I have tried create a system erecovery on a pen drive but still only 3%.

Please help.

Usually if a restore will not complete or gets stuck this means the hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced. If the system is under warranty please contact Acer support from the contact info posted here:

Thanks for responding Mary. I have been in contact with support and was told that my machine take a hdd 2.5 sata 3. Are they easy to install? If I purchased one online, am I looking at a large install bill or no. I'm a newbie and while a little **bleep** that this happens only 5 months past the warranty expiry, I'm gonna try fixing it. Hopefully.

Anything else you may suggest would be greatly appreciated.

The hard drive is pretty easy to access; just remove the base door on the bottom of the system, remove the 4 screws holding the drive to the lower case. Hold the foil tab and pull to disconnect the hdd from the mainboard and remove. Don't lose the screws because these are not something Acer can send out to replace. Hope this helps!

You'll need to install a standard 2.5" SATA 3 drive which is not an SSD drive. In checking our documentation I don't see any indication that there is an M.2 SSD slot in this model.
