Trying to get an Acer Switch Aplpha 12 to PXE Boot with a USB 2.0 network dongle.  It's a 3rd party dongle so I'm not sure if that's the issue.

I've disable UEFI and enabled Legacy Boot in the BIOS

Enabled the F12 Boot menu

When pressing F12 while booting I see network boot

The error I get is:

ASIX (PCI 00:14.0) starting execution...ok

ASIX PXE Initialization... Initialize USB Keyboard...ok

done

No more network devices

...No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

Any thoughts on this?

I would not be surprised to find that the BIOS doesn't have drivers for a third party USB dongle. Since PXE happens well before any OS is loaded it has to have network drivers embedded in the BIOS. Maybe PXE over WiFi? Though I'd be surprised if that were supported as well.

Do you have a suggestion for a supported USB to ethernet dongle?  The Acer site won't show me supported Accessories for the Acer Switch Alpha 12.

No, I wouldn't think there would be one unless some version of the chipset/board combo came with Ethernet embedded. I suppose there's a slight chance there might be PXE support for the WiFi, but it'd be pretty slim. They just never think someone will connect this class of machine to that environment.

I wonder if Windows on the go would offer a solution. You'd have to have the stick inserted, but it could give you custom drivers...
