Hi,

i have the Core i7 model of the Switch Alpha 12 (75UX) and still wonder why the sd performance is so slow. I've measured 25MB/s max. reading. In my think pad yoga the same card is reading witch 70MB/s. It seems that acer has build in an old USB Cardreader. Can someone confirm this?

Hi, I just checked my i5 Switch Alpha 12 microSD card on a 300 MB file and got 26MB/sec steady so your experience is just like my machine. I have a SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 Class 10 200 GB card rated at up to 90MB/s read speed. Mmmm . . . I have about 150 GB of photos on there from my main machine and have never noticed a lag.

I may do some more testing on the card. Thanks for bring the issue up.

    Love my Switch Alpha 12!

Thanks for the post. I was looking to expand my memory and this helps.

I was actually thinking of buying a UHS Class II to get the fastest card possible but realized the reader may not read/write as fast as the card can handle and become a bottle neck.

I tried looking online if the microsd card reader supported UHS II or even UHS I, but with no luck. I called acer support and tried to talk to two reps on the online chat but none of them know.

If you do more tests, let us know. No point in paying more for a micro sd card that can't be utilized. I might just get a card that can do 30MB/sec speeds then for 1/4 of the price.

    Cheers
