I have a new Aspire ES1 521 84B5 laptop. It runs Windows 10 OS.It runs great but when I test my internet speed it shows that my speed is around 100 Mbps on ethernet cable and 54 Mbps on wireless though my home internet speed provided by my ISP is 1 Gbps.I also tested my speed on others computers (including an Aspire 5742, an old laptop and my PC )and the speed is almost 1 Gbps depend of the each ones hardware. On the network adapter details it shows that the adapter can run 1Gbps speed.Any advices are welcome . There is anyone who has the same problem ?
FAQ & Answers
have you tried another ethernet cable (one that you checked it's working at full speed)?
can you please report your laptop BIOS version?
windows logo key + r

report BIOS/DATE version
please try to update Realtek LAN adapter drivers too:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
choose windows 10 autoupdate
In all the tests that I have done I have used the same eth cable for all my computers.
Here is BIOS version of my laptop:
BIOS Version/Date Insyde Corp. V1.06, 8/11/2015
Good, try the Realtek drivers first and then update the BIOS to 1.07:
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.07_A_A.zip?acerid=635978664024455704&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20ES1-521&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6
simply run the exe file with the AC charger plugged
I will try to update the bios. The driver from the link you sent me is the same driver installed in my laptop.
Thanks for now !
Same problem after updatig BIOS. Question : it is posible that the network adapter run only at 100 Mps despite what the details of the card says that the speed is 1Gbps ?
windows logo key + x
Device manager
click on network adapters
double click on the Realtek network adapter
click on Advanced
scroll to Speed & duplex
check if you are able to set 1Gbps connection
click OK
reboot and check if it connects.
After a long, long windows 10 update I reached 180 Mbps download speed and 200 Mbps upload but is far away of what it should be even with speed & duplex set to 1 Gbps duplex.
If you are connected directly to the router, can you try another ethernet port?
