E5-573G No bootable device
I've had this laptop for more or less 6 months, suddenly it crashed and now when I turn it on it says no bootable device. If I alt + f10 I get a screen saying that the default boot device is missing or the boot failed, and in the boot manager both the legacy cd rom and the legacy hard drive appear as "unknown device: unknown device:"
Is there any solution to this without having it repaired? Or is it a hardware problem?

Hi,
Have you dropped the laptop or installed any programs recently?
Check whether your hard drive shown in BIOS, press F2 as soon as you press power button, go to boot tab and post what it shows.
EDIT:You cloud try a battery reset:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset
If that doesn't help, take out the back cover and remove the HDD and reinsert it, you do this if you are comfortable taking out the back cover by yourself, if you need instructions please let us know.

Hi,
You have to go to Boot tab, move with right arrow key. Like this:

Both SATA devices recognised as None is not a good signe.
the best thing is to (if out of waranty period) open the bottom of your laptop and double check if HDD is well plugged to SATA connector.
honestly i suspect a SATA chipset failure, since it's a strange coincidence that both SATA devices are un-recognised.
I'm not an Acer employee.0
