i have tried everything to get this fixed.

the harddrive has been put back to factory specs.

the error comes up on a factory restore. i have to rename the file using a boot disk to get the computer to continue the factory installation.

all the steps to put this notebook back to the out of box state have been accomplished.

the blue screen shows up after the reboot.

after renaming the file atikmpag.old, the system starts up, with the video triangled out in device manager.

the latest amd radeon hd driver 14.12 was installed with the same error. i have reverted back to  14.9, 14.4, 13.12 versions with same error.

an updated intel hd driver has been updated as well but it still fails on atikmpag.sys blue screen.

all attempts to rid this error have failed.

    iwcba,

Have you attempted the steps in this thread?

first off this is for and enduro machine (Finally a solution for sleep problem on Enduro platform)

second this issue is when the machine is reformatted to factory install.

    it fails at initial setup.

third prior to writing these the intel driver was updated and a bsod occured

fourth this specific error has never been solved on your threads.

fifth i sent you a private message you still have not answered.

sixth. this is a known issue with overheating and appears to be a failed ati radeon gpu.

seventh your company should replace these boards for free to eliminate the problem. a recall should have been issued.

eighth i dont understand spanish/portugese to get the solution from microsoft.

    iwcba,

Everything I can find regarding this problem shows it is a driver issue, not a hardware problem with the notebook itself.

    • Are you using the latest BIOS version we have posted for this notebook on our website, version 1.21?
    • I see posts where customers delete atikmpag.sys and atikmdag.sys from system32/drivers/, reinstall the update and it fixes their issue as they are not updating the possibly corrupt files themselves and installing a fresh version.

In regards to the PM you sent to me, I was trying to find documentation that supported what you sent to me; that this is a common issue and I have an answer and should provide it. I was unable to find anything in my documentation here that corroborates what you are implying, unfortunately, I wish that I did have the answer honestly so the issue could be resolved easily.

If you have tried all these things the only thing to do is have the unit serviced to see if the motherboard has an issue itself. Based on this unit, that means you will most likely need to purchase a motherboard and swap it yourself or take it to a local technician have it repaired.

    the bios was updated.

i have rebooted the system after the bios upgrade and did a full recovery.

it errors during initial setup with the atikmpag.sys file stopping the operation.

as stated prior i have renamed the file after restarting the computer during initial setup using a boot disk with command prompt. after file rename reboot to finish initial setup.

it should not fail on a factory recovery.

as far as your statement that others have renamed and/or deleted both files and updated it with success, is in doubt.

where is the thread with this suppos-ed success?

which is the correct driver do you suggest for the amd 7670m

There are a lot of threads on the Internet regarding this issue across multiple computer types. Here is the specific thread (post below dated 3/16/15) that discusses deleting the files and performing the update install.

Ok so my problem seems to be solved.

I've used the methods mentioned here; but they didn't seem to work for me. Then, when I was prompted about not having a Graphics Driver, I deleted the files atikmpag.sys AND atikmdag.sys from system32/drivers/ and installed the latest update again. I haven't seen the mighty BSoD since.

I'll mark this one as solved.

And essenbe; thank you again for your time man. Thank you very much. I hope you have a nice day/week/month/year/life/whatever.

    Hi everyone,

I had same issue with atikmpag.sys every time I try to open some programs or games, even if they work in graphics safe mode or high performances. Some of them worked, some didnt. I dont know why. I have read that I need to flash BIOS and update graphic drivers, and problem should be solved. But when I flashed BIOS, my notebook just died, and as I can see there is another blue screen when I try to turn on my notebook and start windows.
I flashed BIOS from file on acer official site.
Is it possible that Acer offerrd a wrong bios for my notebook?
What should I do to restore previous BIOS or fix this problem?

    Acer 7750g
    Intel core i5 2450m
    AMD Radeon HD 7670m

    Thanks.
