E5-575-54FX Touchpad is lagging on my new laptop

So i just bought this E5-575-54FX and when i'm using slow scrolling on the touchpad it seems to lag. Like my fingers move slightly before the screen starts moving. Kind of hard to explain but it's driving me crazy. Any idea how to fix this ? Not very good with computers.

It says in device manager that i am using the "ELAN I2C Filter Driver" if that helps.

Thanks

  • Hi,

You have Precision Touchpad installed, you need a slight touch to use it unlike Synaptics or Elan Touchpads, you can disable few unnecessary gestures as this touchpad loaded with many gestures some of them we may never use(I have disabled Pinch to Zoom).

You could also reduce it's speed using the slider in my snip, I was disappointed as you are initially but after started using for a while my brain/hand coordination adjusted to it.

Go to Settings, Devices and select Touchpad in the left pane, if your adjustments don't help you, you can reset it to original state.

Hey thanks for the reply. The laptop came installed with the ELAN touchpad so that's what was causing the problem. I did disable pinch to zoom since it always makes my screen smaller of bigger by accident. I always enable reverse scrolling since it just feels better. I tried rolling back the touchpad driver but that didn't help. I just installed the Windows 10 anniversary update but that didn't help either.

Maye i can give it some time to get used to it. I was just reading this thread

It looks like they got an update that fixed this issue but i don't know how to get that update or if it's compatable with my model.

  • Hi,

Could you post the snip of your Device manager showing only expanded section of Human Interface Devices and Mice and other  pointing Devices.

Well i have kind of good news. Once i rolled back my touchpad then went to update it again it updated to ELAN 13.6.7.2 . My previous one was 13.6.4.1 (Also the latest version on Acers site for downloadable drivers). It seems to be working better now. Not 100% but better. Interesting. I wonder why this newer driver isn't on the Acer site.

The odd thing is that when i hit update driver before rolling back it said i have the latest driver.

    Hi,

I think the Acer drivers are customised for Acer laptops and the driver you got may have been released by the MS,

My device manager doesn't have Synaptics driver under Mice and other pointing devices but your's have Elan I2C driver, it could be a driver conflict, I have run out of ideas but please wait for someone else to chime in.

Ya my ASUS only had that HID Compliant mouse. Well at least it is better than before with this newer ELAN driver.

    Thanks for the help.
