Sorry you are having problems with your Acer TC desktop. If you have tried powering it off completely then powering it back on with no luck, then there may be a corruption in the operating system. If this is a new purchase please contact Acer support at 800-816-2237 to request recovery media to restore it and then you should be able to do the initial set up.

    Hello Mary,

    Thanks for your interest.

It seems you have picked up on an incomplete post I started. Shortly thereafter I reposted and provided details of my dilemma and had received some assistance but it seems all those posts are gone. The following is my original post……

--- This PC was purchased with Win 7 and upgraded to Win 10 when it was initially offered for free. I was attempting to reset to factory specs.  I have done this before with other pc's and all was going well until about 30 minutes into the procedure when I lost power.  I waited a few minutes and turned the pc back on.  It started going through the motions of installing, etc. and I lost power again.  FYI, it was a bright sunny day and no known reason for the power failures otherwise I would not have been playing around in such a manner.  Anyway, when it rebooted again I got a message that repairs were necessary so I clicked OK.  When the repair was seemingly completed the PC rebooted and the Acer Logo screen popped up and then changed to a black screen showing the message in the bottom left corner that it was entering Setup.  And that is it!!!  I cannot get past the 'entering setup' screen no matter what I try.  I initially made all types of recoverable media for instances such as this but nothing will get me past the 'entering setup' message.

I really need the information on the harddrive so my first thought is to remove the harddrive to retrieve the info; and, then what?? Is it possible to format/partition the drive externally and put it back in the pc and then try to reload Windows?  Any suggestions? ----

    So to answer your post,

Nope not new - purchased Mar 14/13. Win 7 was pre-installed. I did not receive any installation disks rec'd but I did make a set of recovery disks at the time.  I took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10 when it was made available sometime in late Aug/Sep 2015.  And, YES, I agree, my operating system is no doubt corrupted.  In all likeihood due to the circumstances outlined in my original post.  I have tried everything ..the boot disk(s) I made don't do anything; the Acer Recovery disks I made when I first setup my new computer don't work.  As the matter stands, as I originally posted, when I power on, I see the Acer Logo screen, it progresses to the next screen and stalls.  At the bottom of that screen it says click here to enter Setup.  I click enter Setup and NOTHING happens.  I let it sit for well over 8 hours one day and it still said it was 'entering setup'.

BTW, I can't get into Safe Mode either.  I have tried every combination of Fnc & F-keys: I have unplugged the power cord and held down the power button for 30 seconds or whatever as I heard that might reset it.  Believe me there is nothing I have tried that gets me past the 'entering setup screen'.  Smiley Frustrated

    Regards

    Hi Ozzy13,

I just wanted to mention that your other post is still in the community.  You can find it at the following URL: http://community.acer.com/t5/Aspire-Desktops/Aspire-TC-220-stalls-at-setup-screen/td-p/471838.  (for future reference, you can always return to your profile page and look at your posts listed in the upper left to get back to them).

I've gone ahead and closed that thread to further replies and will leave this thread open so that the discussion can continue here if it needs to or you come back to it.  This will avoid confusion with 2 threads going at once.  (I'd merge them but the date on this incomplete post would cause that thread to get all weird *chuckles* so better to go this route).

Hope this helps!  If you ever need any help with finding posts or posting, please let me know!

    Thanks Kathy,

I  appreciate your fixing the error of my ways.   I couldn't find my post (now know where to find it) and wasn't sure how to respond to Mary and explain what my problem is.

Many many thanks for you assistance.

    Season's Greetings

My guess with this is that the hard drive is bad. Normally when the system will not take a recovery or factory reset and errors out, it means the drive is bad. If the BIOS does not see it, this would confirm that but I would still try a different hard drive to double check.
