My Win10 upgrade to 7741Z-4643 is not fully supported by Acer, either. There is an upgrade matrix on Acer for supported models. Windows has an upgrade asistant that tests the machine. Legacy computer hardware drivers will not be perfect. And my computer is slower now, but the MS Supported OS makes up for a lot of that.

At this point in Jan 2019 the upgrade to win 10 is massively diminished performance without a hardware upgrade replacing the factory RAM. it should be upgraded to the max possible for this unit, 8GB (2 matching 4's.) the win 10 minimum of 4GB (2 matching 2's) will work, but why bother to reach the minimum when upgrades should give you extension of service in terms of years instead of the next release and 8 maxes out this computer? when 8 quits working, trade in the unit after a decade of use. some built-in devices were lost in the initial win 10 upgrade and there is no path to get their ROM or processor calls overcome because the device was designed for win 7. the win 10 os simply refuses hardware access by software. it's modern security and we benefit from it. i had a good factory 3GB win 10 experience until the fall 2018 Creators Update when the SLOW became a burden to use.

Not true, 2 days ago I upgraded Win7 to Win10 at my old 7741G and it went smooth.

Hell yeah, replying on a 2016 thread, why not... /s :astonished:

Anyway, @wbzb is right, they still allow free upgrades (for some reason) on licensed machines, good for those still running Windows 7 I suppose :D

Free upgrade gone is not true! Download the Windows Media Creator and do an update! Using your Win 7 or 8.1 keys won't work on a clean install but once the update occurs new keys are provided and your hardware is now registered to 10! Use Magic Jellybean key finder if you want to locate and record your keys but otherwise once it is registered and accepted keys are no longer a problem.
joansig don't give up yet because you have more to work with!! As for performance issues I'm replying on an Acer Aspire One AO533 with the crappy little N455 Atom bomb. I tried the very first version from 2015 and it was about like the ***** Win 7 Starter Edition stumbling on 1 GB of RAM. I upgraded to 2GB and a SSD but yanked the 10 out and back to 7 which as of today is no longer supported! Performance was slow but it installed perfectly with zero driver issues in this 2009/2010 netbook so perhaps I will give it another try. Let it do all of the updates etc. because they made fixes and improvements compared to my experience using the first 2015 version. This AO455 supposedly can only support 2GB of RAM but in reality Win 7 Starter only supports 2 GB and the N455 is a 64 bit processor so I'm going to experiment with a 4GB stick and see if it works.
joansig your Acer can also take more RAM than mine as well and while your at it bump  it up to 8GB
I replaced my 5400 RPM HHD with a SSD and even that livened things up and yes the prices of them are dropping.
