Acer One 10 battery discharges overnight

I've used an Acer One 10 S1002-145A, with Windows 10, for about 15 months. Now, overnight with power-off, the battery discharges very rapidly, and can reach 0% after 2 nights. The unit does fully charge and operate properly with the AC charger. I would think I need to replace the battery--however, I see no instructions or physical access to replace the battery. Is this a situation of needing to ship the unit to Acer or buy a new unit? I will contact Acer support later this week--I just wanted to ask the Community first.

(NOTE: I realize the Acer One 10 is not strictly a Switch Series unit, but I didn't see another suitable choice among the Forum boards.)

I have concluded that the battery is operating properly. I examined the Windows system
logs, and observed that the unit was going to sleep instead of shutting down. I then forced a
shutdown using the command prompt "shutdown /s /f", and verified that the battery did not
drain over several hours. I also tried the hibernate option, and the battery did not drain for
hibernate. I am continuing to experiment with the power management settings to correct the
shutdown->sleep issue, but I am confident that the battery is OK.

I thank laurent_14 for requesting the Wear level. The low wear of 9 suggested the
alternative situation of the power not really shutdown.

  • Hello,

First could you check the Wear level value in using HWMonitor zipped version (no installation)?

With the unit operating from the AC charger, the Wear level is 9% and the charge level is 100%.

Also, is it possible that the problem is that "Power Off" is not really off, as opposed to a defective battery?

    Thank you.

Just an added note that Shift+shutdown also creates a proper shutdown, similar to Command Window "shutdown /s /f". The normal shutdown continues to sleep, with battery drain.

  • Hello,

    Have you tried this:

"Disconnect power from the tablet and press the power button for 20 seconds. Reconnect power and turn on the tablet."
