Hey everyone: i really hope someone can help me. I have windows 10 installed on my predator and for some reason when i connect a screen via the HDMI port, nothing gets projected onto it. I have extended and duplicate the screen but norhing is working.

I have a dual boot OS and on the linux part the HDMI works.

I have done some research on the problem and it seems like its the intel HD driver problem
Can anyone please help in order to fix this problem pretty please

kindest regards

have you checked if the second monitor is recognised by the system?

rigth click the desktop and choose Display settings and click on Advanced settings.

Do you have 2 monitor listed?

which Intel Graphic drivers is installed on your system?

    Good day IronFly,

Thank you for the prompt response.

    I currently run a 3-Monitor setup.

Monitors are basically brand new, approximately 2 months old.

    Monitor specifications:

    Acer S271HL

All three are exactly the same.

In the device manager it only lists 2/3 Acer monitors. The third monitor is currently listed as the Generic PnP monitor.

My Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 properties are as follows:

    Driver Date: 15/12/2015

    Driver Version: 20.19.15.4352

The funny thing is however: I run Ubuntu 16.04 as a dual boot operating system.  In Ubuntu the HDMI port works perfectly and I can run my 2nd screen from it.

    Thank you for the help.

the generic PnP probably is your laptop monitor.

had you try to run Intel drivers software update?

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24345/Intel-Driver-Update-Utility

check if it gives you a newer graphic version, you will need to uninstall (on device manager, right click the graphic adapter and choose to uninstall, tick to uninstall software too) Acer drivers first or it will be impossible to install Intel drivers, hoping that windows 10 will not re-install the Acer drivers.

I have done what you have suggested, the drivers are now the latest ones, the Intel and NVIDIA. However still no HDMI. I have researched this problem the whole afternoon and still no luck

you have a 3 external monitors, is your laptop monitor turned off?

how do you connect the 3 monitors to your laptop?

    only HDMI?

are you using any sort of HDMI splitter or box to handle the 3 monitors as one?

Ok, I will try and explain as well as I can.

When I boot into Ubuntu and the HDMI port is connected, it boots the monitor.

Once I boot into Windows 10 using the HDMI port without anything else connected (no other monitor), it does not boot the monitor. Only the DP boots a monitor.

So in essence, the HDMI port doesn't work at all in Windows. Ubuntu doesn't seem to pose the same problem?

I currently use a i-tec 3.0 Metal Dockingstation as intermediate.  Information as follows: https://www.i-tec-europe.eu/?t=3&v=366

Through the docking station that I use, I am able run 2 various monitors.  I connect the 3rd monitor directly to the HDMI port which at this stage is nul in void.

It seemed to have been working perfectly a week ago, so I am not sure what happened in the meantime?

    Ok, understood. Smiley Very Happy

if you boot windows without any external monitor connected and once at desktop, you connect only a monitor using HDMI, is the monitor recognised?

can you check under Device manager if any yellow exclamation mark is present (with the monitor connected and ticking Show hidden devices on device manager, under View tab)

Ok this is strange, but I am sure that you are going to have a good laugh about it.  I have attached a screenshot of what the device manager shows under the monitor section, its like there are a few other monitors shown which I am not totally sure belong?

From what I can see, the HDMI port monitor is not actively visible under the monitor list.

And a funny thing I just picked up on, which I am not sure might or might not be related but, when I am in youtube for example and I choose full screen mode, the display goes completely black and I cannot see anything.

The list is good, it's just like a history of connected devices.

Black screen on full screen YT is not good.

Check if the Intel drivers are still the latest you downloaded.

Ok, for some funny reason the Intel driver reverted back to the 2015 version.  I uninstalled it and re-installed it again and the video problem is solved now however the HDMI problem still persists.

Thank you so much once again for the help and support thus far.

Still thinking at your issue, for sure it's driver related but you already re-installed twice them.

I am on the same thinking path as you.  I am convinced its driver related somehow?

Would it perhaps help if I try and restore Windows back to a previous date, say one week ago?

If you are sure that HDMI worked one week ago, do it.

Ive had a look at the restore settings, and it seems there was a crucial windows update done on 29.10.2016.  I tried to restore it to the point just before that which was the 23rd, but for some reason it was not successfull. I am not sure if I should try it again, or perhaps restore it to the 29th? But at this stage the HDMI is still not working.  Will try the second restore option and see how it goes

In the worst case, you can try a windows refresh keeping your files.
