i have read this forum -> http://community.acer.com/t5/2013-Archives/Acer-Aspire-E1-470P-Changing-Memory/td-p/160167
and sir acer-tommy said that "The E1-470P is shipped in various configurations, with one or two memory slots.

The 4GB systems only have one memory slot and the maximum supported RAM is 4GB." and the laptop is not designed to give ram upgrades

but in my scan (i never checked inside) i have 2 slots, one 4GB and one blanked slot and it said that its up to 16GB

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/scanview/99F8ABCD31D926C3
so can i upgrade or not ?im on 64bit OS, if i should not but i still upgrade what might happen ? please help, thanks.

    Hello,

So your motherboard has only one DIMM socket:

There is another motherboard model with the same CPU but with two memory sockets:

    Hi,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

Thanks. To be sure, you'll find perhaps the serial number of your motherboard like this:

By using HWiNFO portable version (no installation):

    • Launch this program
    • Expand Motherboard
    • Expand SMBIOS DMI
    • Click on Mainboard. You'll find the S/N on the left column.
    • Post here the first ten characters. I think it should start with NBMF811004...

PS: I ask this question because there are two motherboards with 1 or 2 DIMM sockets.

I have two memory modules of 8Gb for these motherboards and Aspire E1-470P:

    Spoiler
    KN.8GB07.005SODIMM.8GB.DDR3L-1600 (Kingston)
    KN.8GB0G.015SODIMM.8GB.DDR3L-1600 (Hynix)

So I would try this compatible memory module of 8Gb:
