hi everyone.
I have an ACER laptop Aspire 5733 with a 3Gb Ram that I m trying to increase to 8Gb. I bought 2 modules of 4gb each (http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kvr13s9s8/4).
from what I can see on the ACER specs (http://panam.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2011/Acer/Aspire/Aspire5733/Aspire5733sp2.shtml#sup_5) the max RAM supported is 8Gb.. unfortunately each time I try to insert the 2 new modules, W7 Home premium (64bit) wont load, and keep on getting an error message.. is there something I m missing there?

Hello,
Do you have the same issue with only one memory module of 4Gb?
For information, here is an original memory module of 4Gb: Link.

Is it possible you have a bad memory or two different memories ? I'd try booting with just one and then the other.

Hi ohochberg,
What processor do you have?

Hi ohochberg,
Here is my reasoning (I'm not 100% sure):
- Acer specifications:
- Supports DIMM type: Support DDR3 800/1066/1333Mhz
- Supports DIMM Speed: 800/1066Mhz SDRAM (read/write at 1066MHz max) - Intel i3-370M specifications:
- Memory Types: DDR3 800/1066MHz - Kingston KVR13S9S8/4 specs:
- Programmable CAS Latency: 9, 8, 7, 6 (7=1066MHz)
- Programmable CAS Write Latency(CWL) = 7 (DDR3-1333MHz) Only 1333MHz - Samsung M471B5273DHO-CH9 specs (original memory module):
- H9 - 1333Mbps 9-9-9 but DDR3-1333(9-9-9) is backward compatible to DDR3-1066(7-7-7)
- Programmable CAS Latency: 5,6,7,8,9 (7=1066MHz)
- Programmable CAS Write Latency(CWL) = 5 (DDR3-800), 6 (DDR3-1066), 7 (DDR3-1333)
Windows/bios can read the new memory at 1066MHz but they can' write at 1066MHz. If you check in the bios utility, I'm pretty sure you'll see 8Gb of memory amount (read).

thank you laurent_14

You're welcome. I think my reasoning is logical ... I hope!

hi Laurent. after trying everything , it appears that these RAM modules wont be able to function on this laptop, prob for the reason you gave.
any chance to gear me in th e right direction and possibly suggest to me what would be the enhanced memory modules that i could use with this computer? soe modules that could match the write speed needed wih the current configuration?
thanks in advance.

Hello,
Here are compatible memory modules with your laptop:
- Crucial: DDR3L works at 1.35V and 1.5V (DDR3)
- Transcend TS512MSK64V1N: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz

thank you very much Laurent. I will keep you uo on progress if i manage to get these modules working.
