Whenever i exit or alt+esc out of a game, the screen turns black, but sound keeps playing, this forces me to restart the pc. the thing is, this didn't happen before i bought my new monitor, my old monitor is an HP w2207h, and my new monitor is an Acer S241HL Cbid. I dont believe there is anything wrong with my pc, as this didnt happen with my old monitor.

This only happens to some games though. (Counter Strike: Global Offensive and The Crew)

Any help would be strongy appreciated.

I HAVE FOUND THE THE FIX.

It was a really odd problem, i had tried it before but this time it just decided to work. I plugged out the hdmi cable from the pc, and back in to the pc when i had a black screen. Surprisingly it worked, as i had already tried it before. I have tried it several times now and it works.

have you tried to turn off and on your monitor, instead of rebooting your pc?

have you checked that screen resolution is set correctly?

Nope, ive tried doing what you suggested, none worked. The resolution was no problem and turning off and on my monitor was the first thing i done.

If you are still under warranty, i suggest to contact Acer support service.

Try another HDMI cable and if possible another PC with the Acer monitor.
    I don't have other ideas.

I still had the problem even though i switched HDMI cable. The reallu surprising thing is that my old monitor had no problem exiting...

The only thing i can think is a sync issue when exiting an application but i'm guessing.
