Acer Aspire Switch 10 E SW3-013-155J Touch 2 in 1 Tablet-Laptop  Windows 10  32 Bit

Can change to tablet mode in settings, but unable to unlock rotation lock in settings - it's

grayed out. So, tablet mode stays in 1 position - landscape. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know if, after reconnecting display/pc to keyboard, it is  supposed to go

back to laptop mode automatically? Seems like I always have to restart.

Toggling Tablet mode in settings no help there.

Found Sensor Diagnostic Tool in Microsoft Windows APP store. Used it to verify that the Orientation Sensor appears to be working - it indicates different rotation positions as I rotate the device.

So, continuing to look for help or answer to what now appears to be software related problem??

Also, I was able to rotate the screen manually using tabs on Settings screen for Display options.

Still looking for fix to allow Rotation Lock option to be toggled on/off on Settings or Action Center Scrreens.

Will try Acer Support soon if can't get this figured out. Judging from Acer and Microsoft online searches, this

problem is not too unusual,  though fix is still elusive.

ATTENTION: ACTUAL RESOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE BELOW:

WIndows 10 Auto-Rotation On / Off is GREYED OUT and screen will not rotate with sensors to correct position - also cannot detect 2in1 machines in tent mode or keyboard down mode or orientation of screen in tablet mode...

    DO THE FOLLOWING:

Turn On or Off Screen Rotation Lock by creating or editing the Registry file:

Type "Regedit" in the search bar in windows 10 - right click on REGEDIT and choose to "run as administrator"

    1. Double Click on the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" in the list to the left so that it is highlighted in blue (or your system color)
    2. Open "SOFTWARE"
    3. Open "Microsoft"
    4. Open "Windows"
    5. Open "CurrentVersion"
    6. Open "AutoRotation"
    7. Look in the list to the right for the DWORD entry "Enable"
    8.  If the DWORD "Enable" Exists - double-click it and enter the numerical value "0" (ZERO) - Base must be "HEXADECIMAL"
    9. If the DWORD "Enable" Does Not Exist - Right Click in the area to the right and do the following:
    10. Select "New" from the drop down - select "DWORD (32-Bit) Value"
    11. Type the word "Enable" and hit [ENTER]
    12. Go back to step 8 above
    13. Close the Registry Editor (use "X" at top right OR use Exit Function under "File" to exit the application)
    14. Restart the computer...
This purpose of this change is to enable the autorotation manually through the registry entry - to disable use the # 1 instead of 0...

    Enable DWORD

    0 = On
    1 = Off

If you are missing any of the following entries below in this key section - these may also prevent proper functioning of your sensors to the Windows 10 OS functional responses associated with rotating or switching from laptop to tablet mode...

    LastOrientation
    SensorPresent
    SlateEnable

I hope this helps someone somewhere - unlike technical support -

BTW - I've applied this fix on various MS Surface Pro's (running windows 10) and now the Acer Spin 5 2-in-1...

To answer the question of "How did this happen in the first place?"
I've come to the following deductions:

At some point the sensors or the sensor service function failed to load correctly - User then attempts to change orientation after screen does not respond to normal rotation - either manually or by accident the Windows 10 Charm in the Notifications Quick Menu is turned off and then becomes greyed out - as if it is deleting the registry key - reboot does not resolve...

User is ultimately stuck with zero support from Microsoft or Computer Manufacturer and asked to do everything from jump up and down with one leg tied to one hand to the dreaded fall back of either "use system restore" or "format and recover" - creating new long term issues that cannot be undone...

Save yourself the grief and try this tutorial instead of following the stupid script card troubleshooting performed by most companies...

Ohh and no - your sensors are almost definitely NOT the problem...
