How common is coil whine on X34A monitors?

I just got my unit and it coil whines at 100HZ on a white surface. Going back to 60 makes it almost inaudible but you can still hear it if you stick your ear to it.

I'd like to know how common this problem is on the X34A and if I should return it for a replacement unit or just ask for my money back as both are viable options in the EU. I just don't want to get a unit that performs worse than this one. Might even replace it for an Asus.

And before someone comments that it's "normal" for electronics to suffer from coil whine and that the monitor is advertised as an "up to 100hz" let me remind you that I just spent about 1200€ for this. Faults are not acceptable.

Seems to have been quite common at least when I frequented this forum a year ago after purchasing my X34.

I certainly have a very tiny amount on mine, but it's not even noticeable unless I'm on an entirely white screen and put my ear to the monitor... suffice to say I can live with that Smiley Happy But some others reported it being very bad indeed.

I recall a few people saying the problem went away entirely (or almost entirely) after they did a Factory Reset on their OSD.  So perhaps you can try that and see if it helps at all after you re-overclock back to 100hz after the reset.

Otherwise if that doesn't work and it's really bothering you, I doubt that sending it back to Acer will help to be honest, I haven't seen anywhere that they've addressed this issue specifically after a visit to their repair centre.  I think the only options will be to keep it and live with whatever amount of coil whine you hear or get a refund and buy a different monitor.
