Switch 10 - Problems since latest Windows 10 update

I've had my Switch 10 for just over a year and it's been running on Windows 10 with no problem since January. When I shut it down last week it informed me that it was doing some updates. Since then it has become virtually useless. After boot up I can open one programme (eg "Outlook") but after this nothing else will open, even if I close the active programme. I have to shut down, reboot and then open the next programme I want to use!!. Sometimes if I wait long enough after attempting to start another programme, (up to 20 minutes,) it will eventually start, which leads me to suspect some kind of memory problem. Anybody else experiencing this?

    Thanks for the update. I have very recently worked out that the problem was caused by the update turning Windows Defender back on, and conflicting with my Eset smart security software. I've now disabled Windows Defender and everything is running fine again.

    Have you used Task Manager to see how busy your computer is (ctrl-alt-del and select Task Manager than Performance).

     

    BTW I run EMET (from Microsoft) plus Defender on all my PCs.Windows 10 does not play well with some third party AVs.
