Hello

I want to add a second HDD (mSATA SSD) on my laptop and create a RAID.

They are no option on the BIOS for activate RAID

Does VN7 791G is compatible?

I have find tutorial for activate RAID by a USB key with grub and the cmd "setup_var 0x39 0x2" (0x39 is the variable for controller mode, 0x0 is the value for IDE mode, 0x1 is the default value for sata and 0x2 is the value for RAID) but when i activ RAID mode, no disk are detected.

    Hi,

791G does not have any RAID support.

Also be careful, the second slot is an M.2 slot not an mSATA.

    Hi,

There is no RAID option in the UEFI. And I think even if you tinker around and unlock the UEFI, you will still not have any RAID options.

I cannot tell you for sure if there is a RAID support/controller on the motherboard. This just an engineer or a technician who knows the motherboard can tell you.

    intel say:

Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) functionality requires the following items:

    1. PCH SKU enabled for Intel Rapid Storage Technology (see Section 1.3 )

    2. Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID Option ROM must be on the platform

    3. Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers, most recent revision.

    4. At least two SATA hard disk drives (minimum depends on RAID configuration)

=> intel chipset 8/C220 HM86 express is RAID compatible

=> Intel RST OpROM: i think Acer have not include the OpROM on the Bios

I have found the software H2OEZE v.100.00.02.10, it open the bios ".fd" file, but for security i don't want to modify my bios, it's too risky...

Acer engineer, please, help me !
