Is there any way to recover a corrupted BIOS on an Aspire E5 571 53S1?

I realized that there are a few BIOS updates, after my version (1.26) that seem to offer performance inmprovements. I probably need those, since my brother has a laptop with identical specs to mine, but his runs faster in games. I made sure I have proper drivers and all that stuff, but his is still faster. I also know that if a BIOS update fails, I'll have an expensive brick. I'd rather not have that, so before doing the update, I want to be sure I can recover my computer.

I am sorry, but if you attempt to update your current bios to a different bios not supplied by acer and it fails, then you might not be able to ever get that computer to work again, so just wait see for a update from acer.

Like Sandrino said, a BIOS update should NEVER be done on a diffrent computer. And it will be virtually UNRECOVERABLE and WILL void your warranty immediately after you do it. Also to tell you another reason why, a BIOS update DOES NOT EVER give ANY performace boost to YOUR COMPUTER!!! THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE.

It depends on the quality of the parts, such as the silicon lottery for probably both CPU and GPU, here's a link:

    But this varies HUGELY.

The update I want to do is supplied by Acer. If I search the model number of my laptop to download drivers and manuals (http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers), there is also a bios update that says it will improve system performance.

I just reread my question and understood why you thought I wanted to use a bios for another laptop (I would never consider anything that stupid). Sorry for the terrible phrasing.

Oh, in that case, feel free to do so. HOWEVER. You cannot recover a corrupted BIOS. And I cannot make sure that it is covered. You should ask Acer support for your specfic model. Here is this article for more information: http://www.pcworld.com/article/258308/should_i_update_my_bios_.html

I did it before once though, and literally scared my pants off. It's fine, but risky.
