Graphics driver for W510

Do you have any information about updated graphics driver for W510?

The current one has Direct3D problems (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/bigpicture/discussions/1/882961406956871092/) as well as major artifacts in OpenGL rendering making it unusable for any Direct3D/OpenGL rendering.

I have tried to find official Intel drivers but they state:

Windows 8 OS graphics drivers for the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator on the Intel® Atom™ processor Z2760 are only available from your computer manufacturer. Intel does not provide a generic version of the Intel Graphics driver for Intel Atom processor Z2760 based tablets. Refer to information or software from your computer manufacturer for instructions on downloading and installing graphics driver updates.

So, Acer, any good news?

    well as you can see

reading the above link and you see that the integrated gpu being named intel graphics is a poor, weak powervr gpu, its good for cellphones or arm tablets with android.. but for a windows pc it lacks full direct3d support, as it can be read on this link

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-GMA-3600.60198.0.html

it lacks complex shading vertex shading and a lot of directx instructions in favor to very low power wattage.

it managed 12fps on trackmania, a game that runs good even on decade old gpus

    blame intel for this.

I am aware of the performance of the GPU. The problem is that the driver is not working properly.

E.g., let's say I have a simple turn-based game - I don't need performance but I need it to be displayed correctly (albeit slow).

    hello guis,

Graphics driver is just capability for DX 9.3 , shader model 3.0 and Opengl 2.1 games.

I've tried to unistall Intel Graphics driver and used Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead.

The artifacts in OpenGL rendering were gone, everything was displayed properly - so this must be definitely a driver issue. However, I cannot stick with the MS Basic Driver since the overall graphics performance is ruined, even windows animation and start screen animations are not smooth.

So I am reverting back to the latest Intel drivers and hoping for fixed drivers to be released soon.

For example, this OpenGL game has problems: http://www.daysofwonder.com/online/en/m44/online/#picture1

You can see the artifacts here:

    Proper display: http://cdn0.daysofwonder.com/online/en/img/ol_mmol_picture1.jpg

There are also issues with DirectX as mentioned in my first post.

Unfortunately no news - even using the latest drivers from HP package (9.14.3.1142) still causes this problem...

You can change every drivers you want: W510 is a working tablet, not a PC for gamers Smiley Frustrated

I agree that drivers are a HUGE issue on the z2760 platform. While Sims 3, a 2009 game, plays at a steady 15 fps with no artefacts, half life 1, a 1998 game, with the old engine is unplayable due to a huge black flickering square and random crashes. So either the graphics solution lacks 14 yr old instructions, or the drivers really ARE bad. Also, League of Legends stays at 10fps on whatever graphics level i set it, which is a bit weird.

If intel wont release updates for their rebranded stuff, at least acer should try fixing the bugs

I think the issue with Clover Trail (32nm) devices in ventless cases is that they are straining the thermal design limits now and so when intense graphics as with gaming is required, the current chipset cannot sustain the power dissipation (heat) required and must throttle back.

Once the BayTrail (22nm) devices come out in the 4Q I supect this will improve but right now have to consider the CT devices as more proof of principle than full featured.

For now the W3 is still on my development bench and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is in my car.
