Windows 10 Redstone update

I had big problems with my particular storage setup and the Redstone update.

My storage setup is:

NVME Slot (M2) Samsung 950 Pro (this is the OS disc)

Sata Slot (M2) Liteon CV1

Sata Slot WD 2 TB Sata HDD

Installation always stops after reboot. I tried to adjust all settings like Raid and AHCI in Bios, checked all drivers.

Always Screen with repair options after reboot.

So I did backup of the Samsung. Saved Data from Liteon to another disc and restored Samsung Backup to the Liteon.

Only way to do the backup was to put the liteon to the NVME (M2) slot, doing update succesfully and migrigating back the hole thing to the Samsung (urgh!!!).

Redstone update itself is in my opinion .... I try hard not to say unkind things here, ... no, everybody should try by himself.

Did anyone got a successful update with a 950PRO? I am stuck but I dont have a disk to restore it to. Also, what software did you use for restoring because as far as I know Acronis cannot image the NVMe drive since it is not visible in BIOS.

I am lucky that it will still boot to the non updated version of windows after a few tries so atleast I can use my laptop.

I use Paragon Hard Disc Manager. All backup tools with windows environment are doing well. You might produce such an bootable media with Acronis, too (Windows PE). I did it never sucessfully.

But Paragon was not able to migrate my Ubuntu back. I should have only restored the windows paritition.

There're some posts for e.g. at German chiponline which have funny soltutions for their problems with that update like unplugging internet when 100% download verified. No one knows why, but it woks.

Welll done M., it looks really professional what you did! (Or was ist not professional? Smiley Happy )

so do you mean the reason of the update failure was the 950 NVME on your main os slot?...
