Acer Aspire Battery charges slowly

Hi.

I;ve been having this painfully frutrating issue with acer aspire p3's battery for over a yeat and a half.

Its charging really slowly. It started happening after only about 9 months since I'd bought it new.

It charges really slowly and sometimes, when I have it plugged in. it'll make the occassional random beep.

And lately. I've been losing power when its supposedly switched off. (though I'm suspecting that it turns itself on since my keyboard took a spill of coffee and I tried to fix it. The cover has been comprimised)

I've been searching and searching but I can't find any relebant information. I've since done one factory reset (due to a previous virus) and updated bios.

Please help me on this one. I have to have my power bank constantly plugged in when I'm out. It drains fast too.

What model is it?

Its a p3 171 ultrabook.

it could be the power supply. I would test it. i think it is 19v.

Fast start up setting can cause faster battery drainage while off.

I've tested it on many power supplies. It does it with my charger, it does it with portable power bank and it does it with all wall sockets I try.

What are fast start up settings?

Are they 19v output? I think the stock power supply is 19v 1.5ah output.

Yes. They are 19v. My power bank covers 14-20v and 3.5A.

My wall charger is 19v and I'll have to check the ah when I get home.

If my power bank is 3.5 and it should be 1.5, could that be a speed of damage to the battery?

The higher Ah will charge it faster if the system allow it. You might have an internal problem that should be ckecked be Acer repair

Oh oh! I just did something stupid. Please help.

When you said it might be internal, I just had to take a look. I opened it up to,see if there was a loose connection and couldn't see anything (at least without taking out the large circuit board in the way.) I didn't want to chance it so I proceeded to put it back together only to crack the screen I the process. And now when I turn it on, the touch screen keeps activating and I cant use it without it going crazy and open random apps and shortcuts.

Please help. How can turn off the touch screen for now? What do I do to fix this? How much is a new screen? Is it just the screen? Did I screw something else up when I opened it up?

Not a good thing in general, but also not the EOTW. The LCD screen and digitizer are one unit, so they won't be the cheapest models to fix, but you should be able to get a replacement for under $100. Make sure the screen you buy has both the LCD and digitizer, you can't use just an LCD, like used in the non-touchscreen models. Do a quick Google and you should see tear down and reassembly videos. The only thing to be aware of that I know is there is a little switch that you use to force the device completely off, so an inadvertant click on the power button doesn't fire everything up while you have it apart. Swap out the display and you should be good to go again.
