As the title says,

No wonder I can't get anywhere with this tablet, the support downloads from Acer are wrong?

Build prop shows this ;

ro.build.display.id=Acer_AV0K0_E39_1.017.00_EMEA_GEN2S

ro.product.device=acer_e39

Custom Conf file shows this ;

browser.UserAgent = Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.4.2; en-us; E39 Build/KOT49H) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30;

dm.Manufacturer = Acer
dm.Model = E39

fmtransmitter.RDSValue = Acer
wlan.SSID = Acer E39

This is the E39 model Rom, Re-Named and posted up as the b1-760hd...

Can we get the correct rom posted up please?

Im sorry to say the support offered in the way of software/firmwares is very poor by Acer in this instance.

    I have submitted a Question to Acer support regarding this, Why are they giving us the incorrect firmware?

    Its very odd how this rom is nowhere to be found on the net....

    Is there something in the b1-760hd firmware they dont want us to see?

    WHY CAN WE NOT GET THE CORRECT FIRMWARE??   Why has Acer acknowledged it was the incorrect firmware by taking it down from the site, but has NOT put the correct firmware up instead?

    Why do the Acer Support staff just send out stock answers and dont really answer your question?

    What exactly is it that is so difficult for a big company like this to even answer my emails correctly? or give us the update.zip to our product?

    The lack of reply from admin on here says it all too.....

    This is a peer to peer support forum. Acer does not offer technical support through this medium.

    I'm not asking for you to post up a solution or link to the firmware, I'm asking WHY are ACER offering end user(s) the WRONG firmware?

    I have chatted online today to Acer representatives only to be amazed at their lack of knowledge and ability to ignore the issue, give instructions that are not relavent and basically being a pain in the proverbial neck.

    If it SHOULD be available to download, why is it the WRONG FIRMWARE? All support questions are either ignored or answered with a stock answer that really is not relevant to the question. I have now Escallated the points raised in my 30 min chat online to acer today... I am certain Acer will again ignore the question, and fob me off.

    Im not asking yuou to unlock the bootloader, or tell me how to root it? or am I asking for to much to get the firmware update.zip that SHOULD be hosted on the Acer site.

    The firmware was taken down, only to be replaced with .... GUESS... THE WRONG FIRMWARE again... for the E39 smartphone...  WELL DONE ACER  :-} top work.

    Give yourselves a pat on the back for avoiding the question, and relevant answer...

    Thanks for the edit, I will [Try] to be nice in future.

    Can I just add, you still havent approached the original issue, why are Acer providing the wrong firmware?

    I might be coming across as "Mr Angry" :-/

    But "Acer" as a company is just looking incompetant...  I dont care how I appear to people, but I would have thought "Acer" was quite conscious about it's image, perhaps they dont mind showing ineptitude publicy

    All I want is the correct Firmware (Update.zip) from the "My Acer" Device Page...  Not a Firmwaree for an E39 zipped up and wrongly labeled as the B1-760HD firmware. Can no one see how ridiculous this is?

    Hi Neal,

    I apologize for the frustration. Elizabeth did get with me and I'm asking some question internally to understand what we can get available. I'll get back to this thread soon with an update.

    Thanks,
    Cory

    Im not asking for anything difficult, just for Acer fix the OS download --  So that us B1-760hd users can download the correct update.zip.

    The Support offered so far has been woefull im sure you appreciate that hours wasted trying to get someone to understand what I'm asking.

    The OS is offered and is downloadable from Acer, BUT ITS THE WRONG ONE -- I'm not asking for anything above and beyond...

    I just want Acer to

    1;  Understand my question / issue...

    2;  Acknowledge that the Firmware is Incorrect  (Could be really bad if users try to Install / Flash Incorrect F/ware!!)

    3;  Post the correct firmware to the site as it should be

    I shouldnt have to be doing this - especially through the community forum

    [edited to comply with guidelines]

    To Admins - Mods - Staff - cleaning lady....

    How long will it take for the Acer Tech bod's to answer this... so that you (Mod's etc..) can inform me, and anyone else that is after the correct F/ware file??

    I'm not asking for anything unreasonable... Just for you to get me an answer as to why the firmware link gives us the wrong firmware zipped as the B1-760HD firmware.

    [No Edit Needed...  I held back with my opinion]

    I don't have an ETA. I'm having to go back to my headquarters in TWN. They clarified a few things with me today and said they would get back to me. I don't expect it to take more than a couple of days for followup.

    Thank you for chasing this up Acer-Cory, I do appreciate your time and help.

    It does seem odd that the wrong firmware is packed up inside the B1-760hd zip - I didn't think it would take so much effort for me to get Acer 1; understand what the problem is, 2; change a file on an FTP...

    I await your response, and hope you can get some clarity on my question(s)

    As for the recovery.img I understand that lollipop now compress using .dat [Recovery.resource.dat] and that the recovery is set up using boot.img+ resource.dat +some form of init instructions - just would prefer to have the "Correct" From update.zip.

    Thank you

    Thanks Acer-Cory.

    I have downloaded this OTA.zip but unfortunately it has not rectified the issue. No working recovery means I cant do the update to the tablet...   As I cant "Install from SD"

    Any way of getting the SD card to fire up the update from power "on" like the Allwinner tablets?

    And as it is an OTA update, its basically just a revised build prop and recovery in the zip. No actual OS more a patch.

    I do appreciate you looking into this, I also have an open case with the escallations team at Acer UK and thy are looking into this too.      CASE ID  :[edited for privacy]

    I do appreciate the help, and I'm not always so awkward - But I had to cause a storm in a tea cup with your Moderators to get some one to listen. The same can be said with the Support team, I had to create a stink to get someone to aknowledge that the Firmware was incorrect.

    Ta

    Well I have a working B1-760hd, thanks to Acer fixing it free of charge (consumer rights on downloaded software applied)

    I Thank the chap who sorted it out, top guy, wasn't overly bothered by bricking the 40 quid cheap tablet... Free repair nice all the same. BUT Acer never really answered the question as to why the firmware for the B1-760hd that IS STILL AVAILABLE (rolls eyes in despair ...).  is an incorrectly labeled zip of the Liquid E700 (e39) 4.4.2 firmware....

    It's not rocket science, and any fool with a PC can see for themselves!

    download the e39 rom 4.4.x =  696.9mb.

     Then download the B1-760Hd rom 5.0.1 link on the B1-760 support / download page...  Hmmmm = 696.9mb :-/

    Now the scatter file is also the same in both of the zip(s) we downloaded. OK ? Should not be identical!

    Oh look, see in the build prop and other files within. Oh it's just 2 e39 ROMs, one labeled as E39 and the same files packed up as the b1-760hd, school boy error?

    I pointed this out a few months back.  Still the wrong is? C'mon do you want me to come and update your FTP for you, because the staff there ( @Acer ) can't seem to get it right
