Cannot Network Boot or PXE Boot Aspire One Cloudbook 14

I have an Acer Aspire One Cloudbook 14 (AO1-431M-C49H).

I'm trying to deploy a Windows 10 image using SCCM over the network. Since the Cloudbook doesn't have an Ethernet port, I had to use a USB to Ethernet adapter if I want direct internet connection over the domain environment. The trouble is now is I'm having difficulty trying to do a network boot using a USB to Ethernet adapter. I made sure the network is enabled and changed the network IPv4 and boot priority order to 1 and it didn't work. The laptop is set to UEFI and that's how I want the setting to be. I went to the boot menu and I only see the Windows Boot Manager.

I was able to deploy the Windows 10 image using a USB Boot Media made in SCCM. When I start the boot menu, I can see the USB I connected to start the deployment. I tried it and it worked successfully.

However, I would like to know how to deploy the Windows 10 image via Network Boot or PXE boot. Please let me know. Thank you.

Have you tried to disable the secure boot option?

Yes, Secure Boot is turned off. I enabled Network Boot as well and it still doesn't work. When I pressed F12 to go to the Boot Menu, it does not see the USB to Ethernet adapter on the boot menu.

I created a boot media USB from SCCM and I was able to deploy the Windows image and install via network. But what I want is to have it boot via USB to Ethernet adapter and it's unsuccessful so far.

I called Acer tech support and they still have no idea.

    >>>it does not see the USB to Ethernet adapter on the boot menu>>>

So what do you see in the boot menu? And have you tried making the USB port #1 in the boot priority order?

On the boot menu screen, it only shows "Windows Boot Manager". I've changed the first boot order to USB HDD (unsuccessful), USB FDD(unsuccessful), Network IPv4 (unsuccessful), Network IPv6 (unsuccessful).

When internally booted normally to Win10, can the cloudbook be made to see and be seen via the USB-RJ45 adapter?

When you create a supervisor password in the UEFI, it will allow you to have a custom secure boot.  Secure boot must be enabled.

The example below is for linux but I assume the same would apply to your situation.....but not completely sure.

The reason why I disabled Secure Boot was the imaging process hangs at Setting up WIndows screen. Disabling this feature completed the Windows installation.

I even changed the Setup Utility to Legacy and it still doesn't show the USB to Ethernet adapater on the Boot Menu.

The USB to Ethernet adapter works on Windows, it even gets an IP from DHCP.

Did you read the thread in Jordan's link? Your bios is similar in the way the supervisor password reveals more boot options, many of which are rather cryptically described and tempting to tinker with just to see what happens. 8^)

Is it possible that the ethernet adapter you're trying to use needs a higher level environment than the cloudbook bios can provide to be fully functional?
