i have bought this top model from the predetor collection( acer predator g9-791), and it is really cool, but i have some speculations about it as well. it contains 32 GB DDR4 ram, 2 TB harddisc and 512 ssd and an intel i7 processor and 4 GB NVIDIA GTX grapic card and UHD Screen. but still this pc is not made with a blueray drive, that is the part i find irritating. the drive that came with the computer is of the cheapest plastic there is on the market. not much has to be done before it easely breaks. the rest of the pc is really good. how come you sell a computer who is this good without a blueray drive with it? from my point of view i find it unprofessionally because it is a really good computer.

I've got the model with blueray, but I miss more a 4k display Smiley Sad

But certainly I knew, what I bought. You didn't know the facts about your model?

i knew what i was buyingSmiley Happy. what i find weird about my top model is the CD drive is made out of plastic in poor quality, and that it doesn't even contain blueray. thats weird when my model is in the top of acer predator series. i don't know if it dependts on were in the world you by it from. my is from europe, and find it funny that they have made savings on the cd drive. Smiley Surprised

i will agree with you about the 4K. they should make a dislplay for it.Smiley Happy

I believe that most of the manufacters now realized that blue-ray cd option is no longer important, so the started to reduce the investment on it, i noticed that many laptop companies stopped listing the blue-ray as a reliable option,

the reason why, because everybody is using flash storage to transfer files, my latest predator have a removeable blu-ray drive, and the quality of it is decent, i think its a panasonic branded one, but i replaced it with the frostcore fan, i know this fan is not going to make a big changes in terms of cooling, but it will reduce the heat by 2 degrees..

so i wouldn't be surprised if they make blu-ray drives with cheap plastic as all manufacters are trying to cut the cost..

    hope this helps

it is a big help AJ, and can also understand the solution. i also recived a dvd drive with the computer seperately with the same fan as you did. it wouldnt have costet that much money to make the computer with blue-ray drive. so even though your'e answer helped me i still don't understand the manufactors desicion.

when you pay 4000 dollars for the computer i just expect that the dvd drive also can run blue-ray

If you really need a decent bluray drive, then i would say your only option is an external one:

    hope this helps!
