Hi!

I just bought the new Acer Aspire S7. But the mousepad have this weird clicky noise with the lightest touch. Also if you try and "shake" the laptop up and down you can hear the sound from the mousepad.

Anyone else experiencing this?

It's normal for Aspire.  Mine made the same noise, so I went to Frys to check out the display model. It also made the clicking noise on the touch pad.  I didn't like it, but I guess I have to live with it.

The most recent stock does not seem to do this, but certainly the earlier ones did. Someone said they opened the S7 up and found the screws holding the touchpad needed further tightening but I have not validated this.

It is NOT harmful and should not affect operation of the S7 other than your annoyance with the noise.

Some have said they had issues with failed detection of "left clicks" by just tapping the touchpad. I have to say the touchpad has been flawless for me. It seems to work very reliably in picking up all intended gestures, taps, clicks etc.

Ok !!! So i opened it and it seems like the pad is being held in place in the top with four screws. Not the best design i would say. I would say it needs some kind of support in the side of the pad aswell... well never mind that...

Then I taped a couple of "labels" on each side. And closed it again. And the result?

    Well take a look here:

Great Post! I recieved my Acer S7 three days ago and i LOVE THIS THING....EXCEPT for the trackpad. Fan noise was bad the first day but has improved drastically since. Anyways, did you notice any performance change after installing the "labels"? also, when removing the backing did you come across any problems or was it simply just removing the 5 top screws, 2 middle screws, and 4 bottom screws?

    Thanks, Mark

Do you lose the waranty if you open your acer s7 at home?

Is there any chance that the guys from service would fix the problem?

My trackpad also makes noise, it's annoying
