    • I try to access my recovery management console and it says Hard drive locked...ideas?

    I am getting a BSOD related to Avast software, and I know I need to reinstall windows. I cannot access any portion of the recovery management console. There are no restore points. I try to get in to do a resinstall and it says the drive is locked. any ideas of how to work around this? I have an Aspire 1 E 522

      Have you tried holding Alt+F10 at boot? If it says the HDD is locked, you may have a failed HDD.
