I want to use Firefox as my default browser but when I click any link in emails or facebook they iopen in the stock browser.
Even after clearing defaults of stock browser it reverts back to same.

Whilst the stock browser is pretty good I prefer to use Firefox where I can sync my bookmarks with my pc

Anyone have a solution?

    snowrat,

Here is what I could find, which you may have done exactly this already.

You can sync your bookmarks with Chrome as well, if that is just easier.

I have this issue as well.

Having hit the "clear defaults" on the Browser app (about 50 times now) the Select App panel doesn't appear. Internet links in mail etc just launch straight back into Browser. Then "clear defaults" for Browser is backto black.

Browser should not be on a Lollipop phone.

have you tried to disable stock browser? (if option is available)

another workaround (not the best) is to do a factory reset, install Firefox without open any link that will start the stock browser; once installed Firefox try open a web link and check if browser choice appears.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Well I bit the bullet, took the poison chalice and did the reset.

Installed Firefox, used it, set it as default browser using "Better open with", hid the Browser.

Then I openned a link in an E-mail  Up came Browser. There wasn't a "chose broswer" panel.

It can't be disabled, the disable button on Broswer is grey/gray and can't be used.

Do I have to root the phone?

I don't see what Chrome will do, the crappy old Android Browser will still open instead.

I've done exactly the same, several times.
There is no way to choose your app to open links in. Chrome would act in same way so what would be the point of that!!!

Only option I suppose is not to buy Acer next time.

I now use facebook in Firefox, which also saves about 200mb of storage even when installed to SD card, it leaves this on internal storage.
Now at least FB links open in FF.

The phone got a system update this morning, I had high hopes it was fixed but no it's still locked to this junk browser that can't be DISABLED.

I have this problem too: So far I have tried,

Clearing "Browser" data, cache, Clear defaults, force stopping dozens of times in different patterns.

Cleared ALL defaults for all apps.
I have installed Opera Mini as it has a feature to trigger a Set default BUT The default Just once or always never pops up to allow me to pick Opera.

I have installed Chrome, done a Clear defaults on the Acer "Browser" but that doesn't trigger anything and teh Acer Browser just launches without asking.

I have installed default App Manager but that basically does nothing - it uses the system features but they are obviously broken.

As far as I can  see the Acer build for this is broken in some way in that the "Just once/Always" dialog is never asked for web links. The web browser has to be about the most important app and I want to use Chrome so I can sync to me Desktop history etc.

    Build is Acer_AV0L0_T01_1.014.00_WW_GEN1

Contacted ACER support and all they could suggest was a "clean boot".

So it's about to become a warranty issue.
