Acer Iconia W510 wifi issues with 802.1X

Hi all,

I am trying to connect a W510 tablet to our 802.1X wireless network at our school.  I can get it to connect to a PSK network just fine but not the more secure 802.1X network.  I don't have any issues with any other hardware in the school connecting to the network and I have the latest drivers installed on the W510 (2.04)

Has anyone else experienced wifi issues with 802.1X?  I've tried a couple of different drivers with no success.

802.11 is a standard ... the issue is likely the encryption on the network that you are attempting to connect.

What is the encryption on that network?  WPA, WPA2 ?

802.11x does not really say what kind of authentication is being used. PSK is Pre-Shared Key where all systems use the same key/passphrase. The W510 seems capable of using WEP, WPA, and WPA2 (latest) _ have had no problem with WPA2-PSK. What are you trying to use ? CHAP/PAP, EAP, RADIUS ?

Dont waste your time. it is a defective wireless hardware problem that Acer refuses to admit. send it for repair before warranty expires like mine.  Worse, i cant find a repair center (or, Acer does not want me to find one. Maybe, this problem is not fixable)

The problem is widespread. With Windows 8 I could solve it by following advice for Windows 7 and disabling the surface layer Communication Features in the Adapter. Since updating earlier this Week to 8.1 I have it again. Updating the Bios as recommended by Acer support doean't seem to have some the trick. The Windows 7 solution doesn't work either. Anyone solved this yet?
